Reflective Letter #1 – English 202

                                                                  February 21, 2010

Dear Marlen,

             As of right now, I am feeling a bit stressed with everything.  I think I even feel more stressed than I had in English 101.  I know though that it will all get better closer to the end.  I have wrote a research paper before, however, I was not given the opprotunity to write it on anything I wanted.  I think that this is what makes choosing a research topic so difficult for me.  When I actually sat down and thought about it, I found it very hard to choose a topic of interest to me.  I think that one of the problems I have, is worrying about whether or not I will find enough information to meet my 15 page requirement.  I have went through a few different ideas for a topic and have finally chosen one.  It is not one that was on my “Fucking Cool List” but, I think it is the best thing for me to do right now.  I had wanted to have a topic that I could personally relate ,because this makes it so much easier to write.  I am now doing how business advertisments effect cosumers.  This is a topic that I can relate to and it also pertains to my business major.  I have not decided yet, but I may minor in Marketing, so this topic could help me out there too.

             Sometimes it seems like the blogs and readings we do seem neverending.  From previously going through this though, I know that they will help me out so much in the end.  The readings either help me to get a better grasp on how I should be preparing to write, or they help ease the anxiety that I have about writing.  I have really tried to put a big effort into the blogs I do, because I know that they will really help as well.  Even though they seem a little time consuming sometimes, I am glad that we do them because it does help.

              When I went to first sign up for this course, there were a number of professors I could have taken.  The reason why I chose to take you again, is because I feel that I actually learned from the experience and came out as a better writer.  I remember my mom even telling me how she noticed my writing had improved, since I took your English 101 class.  So even though this course is A LOT of work right now, I am just trying to suck it up and get through it.  My goal is to be able to leave this class feeling confident that I can write anything, and write it well.  Everything that you have us do, you have a reason for it.  I am glad that I have the opportunity to be in your class again!
